Community Guidelines
Last updated: September 28, 2026
314TV exists to give North County St. Louis residents, elected officials, and civic organizations a trusted place to share information, hold government accountable, and strengthen community. These guidelines apply to every post, broadcast submission, comment, and profile on the Platform. Violating them may result in content removal, account suspension, or a permanent ban.
1. Be Accurate
Only share information you believe to be true. If you are uncertain, say so. Do not knowingly spread misinformation, fabricate quotes, misrepresent public records, or alter images or video to deceive. Corrections are encouraged — if you realize you posted something inaccurate, edit or delete it and note the correction.
- Cite your sources when reporting on public meetings, votes, or official actions.
- Do not present opinion or speculation as established fact.
- Do not use AI-generated text or images to fabricate statements by real people.
2. Stay Local and Civic
314TV is a civic media platform for North County St. Louis. Content should be relevant to the communities, municipalities, and residents we serve.
- Posts must relate to a specific municipality, neighborhood, or regional civic issue.
- National or international political content unconnected to local impact is off-topic.
- Commercial advertising disguised as community news is not permitted.
3. Be Respectful
Vigorous civic debate is welcome. Personal attacks, harassment, and hate speech are not.
- Prohibited: threats of violence, doxxing, targeted harassment, slurs, and content that demeans people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.
- Permitted: sharp criticism of elected officials' public actions, policy disagreements, and accountability journalism — provided they focus on conduct, not personal attacks.
- Elected officials and public figures have reduced privacy expectations regarding their official duties. They retain full protection regarding their private lives.
4. Protect Privacy
- Do not publish private contact information of private individuals without their consent.
- Do not post photos or video of minors without the consent of a parent or guardian.
- Public records (meeting minutes, voting records, property filings) may be shared freely — they are civic information.
5. No Spam or Manipulation
- Do not create multiple accounts to amplify your own content or evade a ban.
- Do not post the same content repeatedly across multiple municipalities unless it is genuinely relevant to each.
- Do not use automated tools to post, like, or interact with content.
- Do not solicit votes, signatures, or donations through deceptive means.
6. No Illegal Content
Do not post content that:
- Infringes copyright or trademark.
- Constitutes defamation, fraud, or illegal discrimination.
- Depicts or facilitates illegal activity.
- Contains sexually explicit material.
See our Copyright Policy for details on copyright infringement.
7. Verified Member Standards
Verified members — those who have completed identity verification — are held to a higher standard because their posts carry the 314TV Verified badge. Verified members who repeatedly violate these guidelines may lose their verified status in addition to other enforcement actions.
8. Broadcast Submissions
Stories submitted through the Broadcast Portal are reviewed by 314TV staff before publication. By submitting, you confirm that:
- You have the right to share any media files included.
- The information is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
- You consent to 314TV publishing, archiving, and distributing the content.
